Fix cracks and scratches with nail polish Nail polish can do many, many things, and its clear variety is no less an amazing solve-all. Need to slow a crack in a windscreen or window before you can get it repaired? Nail polish has you covered. Got a little ding you want to prevent from rusting? Clear nail polish does the trick. Better still, if you can find a nail polish shade that (closely) matches your car's paint job, it can work as less-expensive touch-up paint, since the two paints are eerily close in nature. |

Car Scrappage Scheme Update The Government has confirmed it is extending its car scrappage scheme for old cars for up to a month. Lord Mandelson praised the scrappage scheme as a 'great success'. Business Secretary Lord Mandelson announced the scheme would now continue until the end of March or until the remaining funds ran out, whichever is sooner. The scheme, which offered a £2,000 grant to motorists trading in vehicles over 10 years old for new models, had been due to end this month. It was introduced in the last April Budget in an effort to revive flagging car sales. |

Winter Driving Safety As the winter weather is truely upon us it is important that your car is in a sound mechanical condition. Follow our tips for happy winter motoring. - Check your anti-freeze levels. Insuffient anti-freeze can lead to failure of your cooling system.
- Top up your windscreen wash with screen wash with anti-freeze additives.
- Check your windscreen wipers. If you're caught in a blizzard and can't clear your windscreen you could be a serious danger to other road users.
- Check your tyres. Good tyre condition is essential for the hazards of driving on snow and black ice.
- Check your headlights and indicators are all working.
- If you have to travel in the snow, make sure you carry a spade, a torch and blankets in case you get stranded.
- To reduce the risk of the locking your wheels when breaking going downhill, use a lower gear ratio than you would when travelling in dry weather.
- To avoid sliding when pulling away, pull away very slowly. If the wheels slide, change up a gear to and accelerate gently.

Car Scrappage Scheme Latest Lord Mandelson has announced in his speech at this year’s Labour Party conference that the car scrappage scheme will be extended to the end of February 2010. The scheme, which discounts the price of a new car by £2,000 if you trade-in a qualifying old car, was quickly running out of cash but the business secretary announced that a further £100m would be allocated to extend the scrappage scheme to cover 100,000 more cars and vans. How it Works - Key Features The vehicle you trade in and the new vehicle you want to buy must meet certain conditions for you to be able to get the discount. |
