Dishonest to deal with

The guy was elusive when I was asking him about prices to change the lower suspension arm in my car. He told me it would be maybe around £40 to change (I supplied the part). He charged me £60.

He also changed the fan belt for me. All in all labour cost was £83. I was since told by my usual mechanic (which I could not get to) that labour for the total job should cost around £40 max. for relatively quick work which should only take 30 to 45 mins.

Before I realised he was very expensive I went to get a quote for the labour only to change my timing belt. This is when I clicked there was something very wrong. £290 +VAT and he wasn't even buying the parts. They said it was 5 hour labour! I called my usual mechanic who I could not bring the car to at the time and he set me straight. He said according to his reference book it was 1.8 hours work and to give some room for ANY possible delays 2.5 hours is plenty. No special tools needed.

Finally I got the timing belt kit and waterpump changed for £120 +VAT.

I feel caught £45 at the start, then they tried to catch me for £170 +VAT, lied to me saying labour would take 5 hours when reference books allocate 1.8 hours to the job.

I'm disappointed to be honest.
